Thoughts from Dr. Witheiler

This is Cancer Awareness Month and this link from the American Academy of Dermatology is a great resource to review for anyone with history of skin cancer, anyone who is at higher risk for skin cancer, or…really anyone with skin who is willing to take one of the easiest steps you can to detect a skin cancer at its earliest and most treatable stage.

Speaking from my professional perspective, I am still humbled by the amazing range of situations that my patients develop a skin cancer.  Even in the last week, I treated a basal cell carcinoma in a 23 year old Hispanic woman highlighting the fact that skin cancer can affect people of all skin types and ages.

Look at the website and look your skin over and see a dermatologist if you see anything of concern.

How to check your skin

We are now open and seeing patients. Safely!

We are now able to see patients in our office. Please call to schedule your appointment. We have discontinued virtual visits at this time.

The following measures have been implemented to ensure our patient’s safety:

  • All staff and patients will be screened prior to entering the office for fever or other covid-19 risk factors.

  • All staff and patients will wear facial masks when interacting.

  • Patients will be asked to come to appointments alone or with a single assistant when necessary.

  • Patients will be isolated to a single exam room for the duration of their care.

  • Social distancing will be enforced within the office and waiting room.

  • Extensive cleaning will take place three times a day for all common spaces and patient care areas.

  • Documentation by patients will be conducted virtually as much as possible to minimize paper forms and contact.

  • All common magazines and pamphlets have been removed.

  • Engineering controls have been implemented to facilitate these measures.

We look forward to seeing you.
