This is Cancer Awareness Month and this link from the American Academy of Dermatology is a great resource to review for anyone with history of skin cancer, anyone who is at higher risk for skin cancer, or…really anyone with skin who is willing to take one of the easiest steps you can to detect a skin cancer at its earliest and most treatable stage.
Speaking from my professional perspective, I am still humbled by the amazing range of situations that my patients develop a skin cancer. Even in the last week, I treated a basal cell carcinoma in a 23 year old Hispanic woman highlighting the fact that skin cancer can affect people of all skin types and ages.
